Salome.
The Dance of Salome.
Above is a picture of a bronze panel, taken from the doors of San Zeno, Verona. Its is a depiction of the ''Dance of Salome'', the misunderstood female whose performance pleased Herod so greatly. She is seen contorting her back into a complete circle...her hand grasping her foot and pulling it towards her head. To the enlightened among us these contortions represent Mediaeval Astrology, every part of the human being is linked with some part of the Cosmos. The head is ruled by Aries, the throat by Taurus, the feet by Pisces, etc, so the head and the feet indicate the two extreemes of the Zodiac. In the Zodiacal Circle they touch, the feet of Pisces meet the head of Aries. Clearly Salome is imitating the Zodiac by marrying together the past of Aries and the future of Pisces. In ancient times true Astrology was known as 'The Sacred Dance', in which the dancers attempted to link their bodies with the planetary movements. Salome in truth was not an evil seductress as depicted by christianity, she was a gifted initiate and her famous dance represented the fish of Pisces , and the baptist represents the Head of Pisces.
Its sad how the christian doctrine has managed yet again to discredit something so sacred.
